Edit "/etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules" file:

Code: Select all

sudo vi /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules

It would look similar to below:
# PCI device 0x8086:0x100f (e1000)

Code: Select all

SUBSYSTEM=="net", ACTION=="add", DRIVERS=="?*", ATTR{address}=="00:30:11:gf:00:01", ATTR{dev_id}=="0x0", ATTR{type}=="1", KERNEL=="eth*", NAME="eth1"

Take note of the module name in the parentheses, in this example it's "e1000" and delete all the "PCI device...." entries and the content below them and save the file.

Restart "udev":

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/udev restart

Remove the module, in our example it's "e1000":

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe -r e1000

Add the module again, in our example it's "e1000":

Code: Select all

sudo modprobe e1000

Run "ifconfig""

Code: Select all

sudo ifconfig

It should give you all the releveant network adapter information for your system:

Code: Select all

eth1      Link encap:Ethernet  HWaddr 00:30:11:gf:00:01
          inet addr:192.168.xxx.xxx  Bcast:192.168.xxx.xxx  Mask:255.255.255.0
          inet6 addr: fe80::250:56ff:febf:3/64 Scope:Link
          UP BROADCAST RUNNING MULTICAST  MTU:1500  Metric:1
          RX packets:923824 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
          TX packets:1167709 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 carrier:0
          collisions:0 txqueuelen:1000
          RX bytes:218159242 (218.1 MB)  TX bytes:1434983681 (1.4 GB)

Restart your network and you should be back in business:

Code: Select all

sudo /etc/init.d/networking restart
